The Board of Directors of Ferroglobe (the "Company") sets high standards for the Company's employees, officers and directors. Implicit in this philosophy is the importance of sound corporate governance. It is the duty of the Board of Directors to serve as a prudent fiduciary for shareholders and to oversee the management of the Company's business. To fulfill its responsibilities and to discharge its duty, the Board of Directors has adopted various policies and corporate governance guidelines

Our management has broad experience in all aspects of the international metals manufacturing industry, including operations, marketing and finance. We also draw on a deep pool of technical know-how specific to our products and markets.

Executive Chairman

• Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Villar Mir

• Founder and largest shareholder of the venture group Siacapital and Tressis, Spain's largest independent private bank

    Chief Executive Officer

    • Over thirty years of executive management and board-level experience spanning the chemicals, plastic, rubber and paper industries.

    • Recognized for his track record in turning around multinational companies and transforming businesses.

    • Formerly, President and CEO of Alhstrom-Munksjö Oyj, a global fiber materials company listed in Finland, where he led a successful transformation of the business by refocusing its product portfolio towards value-added specialty products.

    • Prior to that, Senior Vice President and Business President of the $3 billion emulsion polymers division of chemicals manufacturer Styron, including during the period in which Styron was acquired by Bain Capital from Dow Chemical Company.

    • Over twenty-two years at Dow in various departments and roles, ultimately serving as general manager of the emulsion polymers business.

    • Non-Executive Director of Schweitzer-Mauduit International, Inc. (NYSE:SWM).

    Chief Finance Officer & IT

    • Over 20 years’ experience as a senior finance professional in multinational companies, including the past seven years as Chief Financial Officer of companies in the metals and mining sector.

    • Most recently, Group Chief Financial Officer at Bekaert NV, a leading, global, steel wire transformation company listed on the Belgium Stock Exchange, where she focused on setting and executing financial strategy, as well as leading numerous strategic projects centered on business growth and enhanced operational efficiency.

    • Prior to Bekaert NV:

    -Chief Financial Officer of the mining division of Trafigura Beheer BV, one of the world’s largest physical commodities trading groups.

    -Finance Director, EMEA and LATAM, for Vestas Wind Systems A.S, the Danish public multinational company and the world’s largest wind turbine generator.

    -Finance Manager for PPG Industries Inc, the leading diversified manufacturing company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under ticker: PPG.

    • Proven transformational capabilities in multinational environments.

     

    Chief Commercial Officer

    • 28 years of international experience in the chemical and plastic sector, leading international and global cross-functional teams with a strong track-record of business growth.

    • Formerly, Chief Commercial Officer at Agilyx ASA (plastics recycling technology) and 25 years of experience at Dow in various departments and roles, ultimately serving as Commercial Director.

    • Recognized as international business leader with extensive knowledge of global markets, having served as Director in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, South Africa and Denmark.

    • Board-level experience from American Chamber of Commerce and Chemical & Allied Industries’ Association in South Africa. Also, served on Regenyx (JV between Agilyx and AmSty) board in United States.

    • Bachelor’s degree in international business administration from Copenhagen Business School.

    Chief Technology and Innovation Officer

    • Over twenty-five years of experience in the metallurgical industry

    • In charge of Operations, R&D, Technology and Environment and Sustainable Development within Ferroglobe

    • Strong technical background, resulting from significant and varied experience gained in varied roles in production and operations

    • Formerly, EVP Production Planning and Technology • Prior to that, in charge of Business Development for the FerroAtlantica Group

    • Over 15 years in various technical and commercial roles at plant level, in France and South Africa

    • 4 years as R&D project manager at Pechiney Central Research Center • Holds a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry

    Chief Legal Officer

    • Experienced securities, finance and transactional lawyer specialized in US-listed foreign private issuers 

    • Member of the Ferroglobe PLC executive management team driving various transformational initiatives

    • Company Secretary to the board of directors of Ferroglobe PLC

    • Prior to Ferroglobe, spent nearly a decade at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP and Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in Madrid and New York

    • Holds a BA from Yale University and JD from the University of Michigan Law School, where he was Managing Editor of the Michigan Law Review

    Chief Operating Officer

    • 20 years of experience in the ferroalloy industry, across the globe, in managing positions.

    • Recognized for his strong leadership skills and his ability to develop winning operational strategy in challenging environment.

    • Graduate of IMT Mines Alés, joining the electro-metallurgy sector of Pechiney in early 2000’, as a project engineer, managing some critical projects such as complete rebuilt of Silicon Metal furnaces

    • Integrating operations in 2004, in leading roles in France, China and North America, focusing on optimization of assets to maximize profitability.

    Chief People and Culture Officer

    • Over 25 years of international experience in transforming organizations and developing people across continents. His expertise includes integration of different companies with the aim of unifying the corporate culture, shaping the organization to drive and support transformation, building new workforce capabilities and development of strategies focusing on employee experience.

    • Worked as a senior advisor working with leadership teams to support the human resources agenda for disruptive innovations.  

    • Vice President, Human Resources BIC, a global consumer packaged goods company.

    • Prior to BIC: Number of senior roles, including HR Director at Schlumberger, a global oilfield services company, where his efforts focused on transformational change and talent management for global operations and North America.

    • MBA in Business Management and Consulting, and Master of Laws.

    Vice President, Corporate Strategy & M&A

    • 25+ years’ experience across olefins & polyolefins industry globally in various corporate and financial roles.

    • Member of the executive management team at Ferroglobe driving and supporting numerous strategic, operational, and financial initiatives.

    • Active board member on the joint venture committee with Dow.

    • Most recently served as Senior Finance Director for Dow’s $15 billion Packaging & Specialty Plastics division.

    • Prior to the above, held senior finance and strategy leadership positions across different divisions and geographies at the Dow Chemical Company.

    • Holds a PhD in Materials Chemistry and a Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University, USA.

    Vice President Energy, Purchasing & Supply Chain

    • Manages all Purchasing & Logistical Operations across the Ferroglobe group, having headed the Centralized Purchasing & Logistics department of Grupo FerroAtlantica since 2012.

    • Graduate of HEC Paris, joining the Pechiney Group in the late 80's, working initially in the trading of bauxite and alumina with Aluminium Pechiney and Pechiney World Trade Brazil.

    • Senior trader then director of Brandeis Limited in London from 1994 to 2000 where he managed the ferroalloys and base metals trading book.

    • Joined the electro-metallurgy sector of Pechiney in the early 2000's. undertaking development projects in Brazil and China and working in a number of commercial roles in Europe and Asia.

    • Has spent most of his professional career outside France, his country of origin, and has a broad knowledge of the silicon and manganese industries worldwide.

    Vice President, Operations – Europe & South America

    • Over twenty-two years of experience in the alloys industry.

    • Extensive knowledge of the ferroalloy business after a progressive career holding different positions and responsibility in production and operations.

    • Formerly, VP Operations Europe & South America for Ferroglobe focused on process improvements and cost savings for 13 facilities located in France, Spain, Norway, Argentina, and Venezuela.

    • Before to the above, 2 years as Operational Manager in Spain and Manganese Business Head for FerroAtlántica Group.

    • Over 10 years as plant manager at Boo facility, and before that, 8 years as production manager at Monzón facility.

    • 2 years as R&D project manager for FerroAtlántica Group at Sabón facility.

    • Mining and metallurgical engineer (MSc.) from The University of Oviedo.

    Vice President, Investor Relations
    • Seasoned financial executive with over 30 years of broad corporate and investment experience in various industries.
    • More than 20 years of Wall Street experience.
    • Most recently, Vice President of Investor Relations at Alpha Metallurgical Resources.
    • Before Alpha, spent more than a decade in institutional investment management as a sell-side analyst and a portfolio manager.
    • Member of the executive management team at Ferroglobe PLC, primarily focusing on the investment community and capital markets.
    • Graduated with a BBA in Finance with high honors from the University of Texas and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College. A holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation

      • Began her career in management consulting and investment banking, serving as Country Executive Officer and General Manager with Bank of America in Spain from 2003 to 2008.

      • Former board positions include as independent director of Telvent GIT S.A. (NASDAQ TLVT), the global IT solutions and business information services provider, from early 2010 until its de-listing following acquisition in December 2011

      • A member of the Board of Eland Private Equity, S.G.E.L.C., S.A., a private equity management company specializing in renewable energies, since 2009 and a member of the McKinsey Alumni Council in Spain.

      • Holds an Industrial Engineering degree (MSc equivalent) from Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, Madrid, Spain and an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. Holds a number of academic appointments, lecturing in Financing at the Three Points Digital Business School, Grupo Planeta, in Barcelona, in Managerial Competencies in CUNEF, in Madrid and Risk Management at the Non-Executive Directors Program at ICADE Business School, also in Madrid.

      • Senior advisor at Mercer Consulting, where Mr. Barrilero developed his career as a partner of the firm and as a member of the executive committee, leading the advisory talent and reward service for the boards of the main companies and multinationals. He has also led the business throughout the EMEA

      • Previously led the Watson Wyatt consulting firm in Madrid

      • Began career as a lawyer at Ebro Agricolas focused on labour law, before serving as Ebro’s head of human resources

      • Holds law degree from Deusto and a Masters in Financial Economics from ICADE, as well as a masters in human resources by Euroforum-INSEAD

      • Served as a member of Globe's Board of Directors since April 2014 until the closing of the Business Combination and was a member of Globe's Audit Committee.

      • Chairman of the Invesco Mutual Funds Group Board of Directors, and is also a member of the Audit, Investment and Governance Committees

She is also a member of the board and of the risk, audit, and compensation & talent management committees at Banco Santander International, the Santander group’s private banking subsidiary in the United States

      • Also an independent director for 13 years at Acciona, a leader in the renewable energy and infrastructure industries, as well as at Talgo, a high-speed train manufacturer, where she chaired the strategy committee

      • Holds a Ph.D. in Management and an M.A. in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles, where she was a Fulbright Scholar. She also holds a Ph.D. in Business Economics from the Complutense University of Madrid
